Maui
East Maui
Here’s the Hawaii made famous in the 1960’s, where surfers and long hair were everywhere, small towns casual living. Come to think of it, East Maui also typifies
late 1950s Fashion as it moved into early 60s fashion. Cardigan sweaters, preppy surfing look. Surfing was introduced to Maui in the 1950s, after all.
There are two main areas in East Maui:
- Paia. This is an old agricultural town turned hippie surfing arty heaven. Here’s where all the wind ends up, making it a delightful place for windsurfers from all over the world.
- Hana. This is where to go if you want to get away from commercial development, and much of what makes the modern world so very unattractive. Life is simple in Hana, and life is slower here, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the small-town charm and the frangrant breezes. Save time for Hana, if you want some time out from the modern world.
